You May Experience Jerky Video Streaming If Your Portable Has Broadband and
WIFI Connected at the Same
Time
By Bienvenu-Magloire QUENUM
A portable computer may play
jerky video
streams if the WIFI signal is
not strong enough the handle
the amount of data streaming
into the computer from the broadcasting
media, even from a popular and
powerful one such as YouTube.
A weak signal may be a sign
you are browsing the Internet
too far from the router, or that
you are doing so from a dead
spot in your house, where the
signal is quite non-existent.
You can
improve the signal using a Wireless
Range Expander that does the job boosting the signal coming from
the router over a wider range. However, a classical Wireless Range Expander may
not be sufficient to cover all corners in your house, still leaving some dead
spots.
The classical Wireless Range Expander can be coupled with a High Gain
USB Wireless Dish Adapter such as the one marketed by Hawkingtech.com,
which is like a tiny satellite dish that boost the Wifi signal 150 to 300 times.

Having Broadband and Wifi Connected
at the Same Time Can Lead To Jerky
Video Streaming
Even
if you boost the Wifi signal from
your router using applications
and devices as above outlined,
you may still experience jerky
video streaming, if you have Broadband
and Wifi connected at the same
time on your portable.
If such is the case, try to disconnect
the Wifi system, either directly
through the Connection Logo in
the system tray - or proceed with
this sequence of actions: Start/Control
Panel/Network and Sharing Center/ -
then Click
on View Status of
the Wireless System, and Choose
Disable at the bottom
of the interface.

Screen savers
are computer programs that are included on every computer sold today. The original
function for the screen saver was to protect the computer monitor from damage
when a single data or picture screen was left on the screen for
an extended period of time.
Today, screen savers continue to provide the above outlined original service,
but can also be configured to tighten up
security measures. [Source]
For
instance, with VISTA, on resume you can display the Logon Screen that requests
the input of your Security Code, performing this sequence: Start/Control Panel/Personalization/Screen
Saver - and tick "On resume display logon screen".
In most personal computers, the Screen Saver can only be controlled from the
Control Panel executing the following sequence- on Windows Operating Systems:
Start/ Control Panel, which is sometimes very annoying when one - for instance
- would like to stop the Screen Saver during a lengthy video streaming session.
Control Screen Saver is an easy to use
all-in-one screen saver utility that lets you control your screen savers
from the TaskBar/System Tray - with a simple click of the mouse. You can launch,
choose, configure, randomize, enable and disable your screen savers from the
system tray. You can also hotkey activate and configure the current screen saver.
During a video session the utility stops the Screen Saver automatically.
