SUBTITLES TO DOWNLOADED MOVIES/ VIDEOS
Movies and videos which are not acted in English
language are labeled"international"
by Americans. There are thousands and thousands of international video
/ movies available for download in newsgroups and specialized websites.
- Definition:
A subtitle is the text at the bottom of the movie's player screen
that translates the movie's native dialogue
into another international language/ dialogue. The most frequent subtitles's
extensions are the following.

Downloaded international movies may come
with integrated subtitles or only have dialogue
in the movie's maker / producers native international language.

THERE ARE WEBSITES DEDICATED TO SUBTITLES
There are websites
that list subtitles to international movies - to download for free. The problem
is you may need to make a lot of research to find the right subtitles for
the particular international movie. First because a single site
may not have all subtitles, and second movies that differ (in scenario and
cast) sometimes have the same denomination and the same production year.
Therefore the subtitles you downloaded may not be the right one for your
specific movie.
Further, a subtitle package may display in some media
player and not display at all in another. And to make things worse
some people play the dirty game uploading subtitles package that have nothing
to do with the referenced movie.
Thus the best practice
is to download at least three different subtitles package just in case. That
is not a problem as subtitles package weigh small sizes in the range of 25,000
bytes to 30,000 bytes for a movie of an hour and a half duration. Click

EXPOSE SUBTITLES FOR DOWNLOADED MOVIES/ VIDEOS
All media
players here listed have a subtitles-menu that is fully
active when playing DVD disks. Only GomPlayer and Kantaris have
the subtitles-menu available when playing a downloaded movie. In
other words, the subtitles-menu is dimmed in other players when a downloaded
movie file is loaded and is fully available only in Kantaris and GomPlayer.
Further, a subtitles-package
for the same downloaded movie may show in Kantaris and
not in GomPlayer. The later
features a very comprehensive menu to manage subtitles with
an included Subtitles Explorer that aligns and
synchronizes subtitles with the movie file.

To expose subtitles playing DivX/XviD discs or downloaded movies
in other media players you may need to install
a filter called DirectVobSub
The best practice
is to place a downloaded subtitle and the movie into the same folder. Kantaris
media player exposes subtitle package whatever may be the filename
(numbered or text), while
most media players may require a change of the subtitle package's filename.
That is to say one may need to rename the subtitle package's filename to
match the filename of the movie. (The specific
extension to the subtitle
package remaining unchanged!)
