A WORD FROM THE EDITOR

Dear visitor and international investor,

If this is your first visit to AFRICABIZ monthly on-line issue - The ultimate newsletter on trading and investing in 48 sub-Saharan African countries - I warmly welcome you.

If you are a regular and faithful reader, welcome back.

Now, here we are; the countdown to 01-01-2000 is quite complete. Maybe the over hyped Y2K problem will be a big nonevent; a flop. Maybe there will be a lot of activity... But nobody is hurt being prepared.

So, if you are under Windows 95/98/NT operating system and just in case you haven't already made this little fix to your computer, I am pleased to forward to you a tip courtesy of Rick Harrington 1-800-355-1511
http://www.harringtonenterprises.com/bizop.php

  1. Click start and then "Settings"

  2. Double click on "Control Panel".
  3. Double click on "Regional Settings" icon.
  4. Click on the "Date" tab at the top of the page.
    • Where it reads, "Short Date Sample", look and see if it shows a "two digit" year. It probably does. That's the default setting for Windows 95, Windows 98 and NT.

    • This date feeds application software and will not rollover to the year 2000 if set to two year digits. It will roll over to 00. (This could cause failure of software which accesses your computer's date).

  5. Click on the button across from "Short Date Style" and select the option that shows, mm/dd/yyyy or yyyy/mm/dd (Be sure your selection has four Y's showing, not two)

VERY IMPORTANT: Afterwards click:

  • on "Apply".

  • on "OK" at the bottom.

Now you are prepared if you have already gone through other additional fixes.
Here are two other links just in case you haven't done so:

With the Yule period and the new year, we all like to get in touch with our friends and loved ones scattered around the world. It's emotionally a good feeling to speak to them and hear their voices on the phone line. But that's little pleasure may turn out rather expensive with all the world's "Ma Bell" outrageous ratings. That's now for the past and the "Ma Bell" CEO around the world have serious trouble and headaches to cope with on the brink of the new millennium...

Phone free to your relatives and friends whatever may be their residence location:

Rush to the freebie you cannot live without.

Together with AFRICABIZ team,
I wish you all the best for the starting of the new millennium; first of all a very good health and then prosperity for all your undertakings.

Many thanks for dropping by and see you here next month.

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN AFRICA

Still on AFRICABIZ promotional board is the vegetable-oil factory to be established in a West Africa country; based on the transformation of various oil-seeds into industrial use and human consumption.

The bulk of the production is based on shea-nut trituration and processing to produce shea-butter. Shea-butter is highly appreciated by many industries (cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food industry) as additive to increase the added value of their products.

Please refer to previous issue for more on this important project.
Many other business opportunities are available here.
