      • The international community of investors with information, news and events to assist them make sound investment decisions for their undertakings in Africa and elsewhere.

One field in particular: GENETICS - which is going to have a tremendous impact in all aspects of life (social, economics, health, politics. Etc.) in the new millennium's first century - needs to be closely watched by any person involved in financing / investing and governing. Through the following link you can follow-up and review the outstanding genetics related discoveries - happening hour-by-hour and day-by-day - which are forerunners signs of "greener pastures" or "inferno" / "big brother" days.

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN AFRICA

ADDITIONAL INCOME / OPPORTUNITY RELATED TO A FREEZE-DRIED PAPAIN PRODUCTION PLANT :
ANIMAL BREEDING.

On the promotion board, last month, we exposed a "niche" operation: FREEZE-DRIED PAPAIN PRODUCTION which could be used as "economic catalyst" and launching pad for the economic development of an African country's regional territory. Click here for more.

This month we add a new business opportunity to the PAPAIN production: Animal breeding

As can be seen in the table below, an operation to produce 35 metric tons of high grade freeze-dried papain needs 390,000 to 920,000 papaya trees; and depending on the initial papaya seeds used to establish the plantation, each tree give in average 50kg of papaya fruits. That is to say for the entire plantation 19,500 to 46,000 metric tons of papaya fruits.

At the end of the cycle of removing the latex from the papaya fruit to produce PAPAIN, the "waste" of the papaya fruit could be used as raw material for animal feed formulation.

A fifty fifty blend of papaya fruit, straw and some essential medicines and chemicals will make excellent animal feed and increase the bottom line of the whole operation. 39,000 to 92,000 metric tons of animal feed will be available to breed 12,000 heads of cattle per year (3000 per quarter) or 60, 000 pigs per years. (10,000 pigs every two months)

Plantation of Papaya
260 to 400 hectares. 1,500 to 2,300 trees per hectare
Investment as below outlined
Workforce on plantation - 400 to 650 workmen for latex collection
Plant management: approximately 40 skilled technicians and engineers
1- Initial survey
Construction/
2- Setup of plant
3- Plantation setup
4- Staff training
5- Technology transfer + Startup Assistance. Etc.
Total investment
US $
8,000,000
Production full capacity
35 -38 metric tons of freeze-dried papain
Minimum activity guaranteed: 1,600 IU/mg
Possible: 3,200 IU/mg

Average selling price: US $ per metric ton
190,000
Total revenue / per year at full capacity: US $
6,650,000
Pay-back period
4 to 5 years

R.O.I
40 to 50%

The fundamentals / Revenue and R.O.I outlined in the table are based only on proceeds from the main production of freeze dried papain.

One can see - considering these additional operations - why the production of PAPAIN can be used as an "economic catalyst" / central operation for the economic development of a country's region as here exposed. It is a perfect "Income Building Power" operation; labor intensive and foreign currency provider or saver. Capable of generating the "Synergetic Impact Factor" here available
