TO ADD WINDOWS EXPLORER TO THE "SEND-TO" FOLDER
Under Windows 98, when you right-click on a file or folder, one of the options
at your disposal is the "Send To" command; to send the particular
file to the floppy disk, the clipboard as content, to DOS command line, to My
Document, to the Desktop (create a shortcut). Etc. The "Send To"
command is very useful, for instance, to create a copy of a document on a floppy
by right-clicking on the file and choosing "Send To", 3 1/2 Floppy (A);
or to move files to "My Documents" folder. The most important
destination of the "Send To" command, in my opinion, is the "Any
Folder" which directs the command line to Windows
Explorer partitions / folders. It helps you quickly copy /move files
around on your hard disk. It is not available right away
with Windows 98. With Windows 95, the installation of "Power
Tools" (Click here
for more) straightway puts the "Any Folder" destination into
the "Send To" options. With Windows 98, Second Edition, it is advised
by Microsoft not to install "Power Tools". However, if you like it,
you do have the possibility to add it yourself, in another twist of manner.
Here is how to proceed: - Right click on "My
Computer" on your desktop and choose "Explore"
- Click
on "View"; then on "Explorer Bar" and choose
"Folders" to have the folders at the left side of the panel.
- Create a shortcut to the folder My Computer
by right-clicking on it and choosing "Send To" Desktop.
- Finish by moving that shortcut to the C:\Windows\SendTo folder.
Windows Explorer will automatically become part of
the "Send To" menu. TOP
