Windows in a quickest manner / Circumvent the scanning
process When your operating system is blocked with the fatal
error blue screen - click here
to see how you can limit the occurrence of this annoying event - you sometimes
have no alternative than rebooting your computer. To do so you either press,
twice, this sequence: "Control" + "Alt" + "Delete"
on your keyboard; or press the "Start" button on the front panel of
your hardware.. When you do that, Windows doesn't load immediately;
it goes through a scanning process to check for errors on the hard disk. That
scanning process may take a long time to finish depending on your system "power"
- your processor speed - and the size of your hard disk. The lower the speed,
and the larger your hard disk, the more the scanning time. There is
a possibility to circumvent the scanning process and speed up the rebooting procedure.
You can also use the trick when you have made some changes to your computer
that require you to restart Windows. Here is how to proceed:
a- You have made changes and need to restart Windows: 1-
Go to Start, 2- Choose "Shut Down" and 3- Select "Restart"
4- Hold down the "Shift key" while you click the OK button.
Windows restarts, taking only half as much time as rebooting your entire computer
b- You have suffered the fatal error screen and need to restart windows
as above explained at the beginning of this delivery: Hold down the
"Shift key" as soon as you pass the warning that you may hit "Delete"
or any key to run setup; and Windows
restarts, taking only half as much time as rebooting your entire computer.

Free alternative to Microsoft Office: 602Pro PC Suite
As
far as desktop productivity tools are concerned I personally has always opted
for Microsoft Office package. My choice is directed by my desire to have my system
working around the clock in complete harmony with my operating system: WIndows
98. In few word, "Integration": Microsoft's marketing magic word
had a real selling impact. But, to buy Microsoft Office package, one
has to shed something in the range of 450 to 600 bucks, depending on your choice
of version; and the upgrading frequency is increasing at high speed; making millionaire
among Microsoft' share holders. They are the lucky ones. So, when a bargain
is available for free which matches the "integrability" of Microsoft
Office, one feels real good keeping 450 to 600 bucks in one's pocket; and avoiding
being the milking cow of Microsoft' share holders. In few words, here
is a little package which can do quite the same - and some time more - as Microsoft
Office; for free. It is called: 602Pro PC Suite
602Pro PC Suite is an integrated office suite that is compatible with
Microsoft Office documents (types DOC/XLS), and is designed for computers running
Windows 95, 98, and NT. It is not "heavy" at all: only 14 MB
in comparison to the 70-100 MB size of other "free" alternatives like
StarOffice 5.2 from Sun Microsystems. The suite includes a word processor,
spreadsheet, graphic editor, and visual desktop. It also includes a visual file
manager that lets you preview documents before you open them. The suite allows
users to process several types of information, including text, numbers, pictures,
mass fax / email communication (for that option you will need to give up 49.50
bucks... a real bargain in comparison to what you gain in productivity)
